What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Substuite - Science position at Cotting School?
Cotting School, a recognized leader and innovator in special education, is seeking a long term substitute Science Teacher for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year (with the option to continue working for the 5 week summer session), to work with our population of students ages 3-22 with moderate to severe special needs.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching science content one/week to each of our self-contained homeroom classrooms in Lower School, Middle School and Upper School (ages 3-18).
Teaching elective science classes to several groups of Upper School and Capstone students (ages 18-22)
Aligning instruction with Massachusetts state standards and following the Cotting School created science scope and sequence for each program level.
Differentiating instruction to meet the varying cognitive needs of the students in each class.
Continuing to work on the science section of the MCAS Alternate Assessment Portfolios for all applicable students.
Maintaining a professional level of knowledge and skill with regard to subject matter.
Meeting the physical, emotional and educational needs of students assigned with frequent collaboration with the administration, classroom teachers and therapists.
Serving as a positive role model for all students in terms of manner, appearance, attitude and knowledge.
Maintaining effective classroom management skills.
Collaborating with classroom teachers and other specialists on cross-disciplinary projects.
