Accountant
Cotton Funeral Service seeks a dedicated in-person Accountant for our Orange, New Jersey. This role is essential to support the financial growth of our expanding business and manage key accounting tasks effectively. This autonomous role will create and analyze financial reports, ensure legal compliance, process accounts payable and receivable, and manage invoices and tax payments. The person must be able to work independently and with a team, along with a strong desire to be willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3-4 years of experience preferably in accounting/finance
- Manage and process accounts payable
- Maintain the general ledger for several companies
- Ability to read and analyze financial statements/reports
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Conduct thorough bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy
- Maintain and update the general ledger on a regular basis
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries for accurate record keeping
- Perform month-end close activities to ensure all financial data is captured
- You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information
- Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, MIMs and Microsoft Office for efficient data management and reporting.
