Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a nurturing and empowering environment for young children. This role involves working with toddlers and preschool-aged children in a forest school setting, and we are outside during the entire year for at least 3 hours a day.
This job is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30-1:30pm starting this Spring. The right candidate will have the opportunity for growth, as we are expanding to M-F in the fall!
Duties
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for all students by modeling how children can communicate their needs and help others feel seen
- Encourage children in hands-on activities that promote learning through play, exploration, and creativity, but take a backseat to allow them to explore their own ideas and play
- Observe and assess children's progress in various areas of development, including social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.
- Supervise children in the outdoor forested environment ensuring their safety and supporting their emotional wellbeing
- Intervene in conflict and big feelings to support the children in moving through their feelings together
- Help changing and toileting the kids
Requirements:
-Must have experience with early childhood ages in a professional or caregiving capacity.
-Openness to working in all weather with a good attitude -- no weather is bad weather!
-Holistic views on early childhood education that stress the importance of play and the capability of children
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience working in an outdoor job
-Experience and knowledge of gardening and ecological principles
-Experience and knowledge of childhood development
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
