CLASS TITLE : KINDERGARTEN TEACHER
CLASSIFICATION : Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION
Provides an educational program for pupils in Kindergarten, assist in other school programs as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, music and other appropriate learning activities to pupils in a classroom utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Support the integration program and encourage the participation of pupils who qualify for the program; participate and instruct in integration programs as assigned.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom; support and assist in maintaining district discipline policy and the site discipline plan.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, seminars or other professional growth activities.
- Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator(s) to develop the method by which performance will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
- Operate a computer and standard office equipment.
- Administer basic first aid and CPR as needed.

Any combination equivalent to : bachelor's degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience. Other factors for effective performance including the following : Clear credential as required by State law. Master's degree with academic subject matter major. Depth of training in one or more areas of the elementary school curriculum.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Arizona Teaching Credential.
Meet the definition of Appropriately Certified" under the Every Student Succeeds Act.
Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement
Valid First Aid and CPR certificates issued by an authorized agency.
