Job Title: Welding Teacher (CTE & Dual Credit – Southwest Texas College)
Reports To: Campus Principal

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Primary Purpose:
Provide high-quality instruction in Welding I and Welding II aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) under the Manufacturing Production and Procedure program of study. Serve simultaneously as an adjunct faculty member through Southwest Texas College to deliver dual credit welding courses. This position ensures students are prepared for postsecondary opportunities, industry-recognized certifications, and workforce entry in welding and related fields.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Agricultural Science and Technology
- Level 1 Welding Certificate required; Associate’s Degree or higher in Welding or related field preferred
- AWS 5G Certification preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Southwest Texas College Dual Credit Requirements:
- Must meet adjunct faculty vetting criteria of Southwest Texas College
- Minimum five years of industry experience in welding occupations
- Demonstrated ability to teach welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, blueprint reading, and fabrication techniques
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in TEKS for Welding I (130.363) and Welding II (130.364)
- Understanding of dual credit instructional expectations and college-level rigor
- Strong classroom and lab safety knowledge (OSHA-aligned practices)
- Skilled in welding equipment use and maintenance
- Effective communication and instructional delivery for secondary and postsecondary learners
- Capacity to mentor students toward industry certifications and postsecondary readiness
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and instructional technology
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
CTE Instructional Responsibilities (Cotulla ISD):
- Deliver instruction for Welding I and Welding II per Texas TEKS
- Utilize appropriate welding technologies and hands-on practice in the lab environment
- Integrate employability skills, career planning, and workplace ethics into curriculum
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and instructional records in accordance with district policy
- Participate in CTE Pathway meetings and state-aligned professional development
- Meet all expectations under the T-TESS appraisal system
Dual Credit Instructional Responsibilities (Southwest Texas College):
- Serve as adjunct professor for Southwest Texas College at Cotulla High School
- Deliver dual credit courses that align with SWT College syllabi, grading, and academic expectations
- Maintain instructional integrity, safety, and equipment in alignment with college-level standards
- Attend required college meetings, participate in student advisement, and support recruitment
- Ensure proper documentation of student performance and course requirements per SWT College policies
Program Leadership and Safety:
- Maintain a safe, well-equipped, and compliant welding lab
- Monitor use of PPE, cutting tools, and welding stations according to OSHA and AWS safety standards
- Serve as a liaison between Cotulla ISD and Southwest Texas College for program coordination
- Support students with guidance toward career certification and dual credit academic planning
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to welding equipment, materials, and lab environment
- Requires standing, bending, lifting, and operating heavy tools
- Occasional travel may be required to SWT College or local business/industry sites
Salary : $62,290 - $76,135
