Primary Purpose:
Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in providing speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, fluency, or language disorders. Work under the supervision of a licensed SLP to implement therapy plans, document student progress, and support students' ability to access the educational program.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or related field
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) license granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of speech-language development and disorders
- Ability to follow treatment plans designed by the supervising SLP
- Skill in working effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Experience in a school setting preferred but not required
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Therapy Support
- Conduct speech-language therapy activities under the direction and supervision of the Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives as assigned by the supervising SLP.
- Assist with screenings and data collection to support the evaluation
- Provide individual or group therapy sessions following prescribed intervention
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the supervising
Consultation and Collaboration
- Communicate with teachers and staff regarding student progress and therapy
- Provide support and guidance to teachers on incorporating speech-language strategies in the classroom.

Student Management
- Maintain a positive and structured environment during therapy
- Follow behavior management strategies in accordance with district
Program Management and Compliance
- Maintain documentation of therapy sessions, student performance, and required reports under the supervision of an SLP.
- Comply with federal, state, and district policies and procedures related to speech- language services.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of student
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None (Must work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist)
