SURGICAL ASSISTANT
This multi physician Oral Surgery Practice is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to work in our Oral Surgery clinics. We are seeking someone special who has the heart for giving excellent and safe patient care, and wants to support a healthy team environment by working collaboratively with others within the department.
- Assists surgeons during patient treatment exams and procedures.
- Maintains sterile field and instrumentation for all surgical procedures.
- Anticipates physician, surgical team, and patient needs throughout procedure and adapts to changes quickly & effectively, including emergency responses.
- Utilizes universal precautions appropriately. Endures appropriate safety measures taken for the patient, including but not limited to: accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts, handling of specimens, proper use/handling of implants; use of electrocautery; use of lasers, verification, labeling and handling of medications/ irrigation fluids and reports time and appropriate dosages/amounts of administration to circulator, proper and safe use of all electrical devices and equipment; appropriate positioning of patient, safe moving and transporting of patients, and safe and appropriate use of surgical instruments and equipment, etc.
- Set up and breakdown operatory rooms
- Works collaboratively with co-workers
- Take X-rays and impressions
- Provides Prepare medications and IV for sedation/anesthesia as instructed by the oral surgeon.
- Provides additional supportive patient care as directed by others
- Adheres reliably to all accepted patient safety standards.
- Makes value-added resource decisions for patient care with respect to supplies, equipment and acuity of care.
- Locates, operates and maintains equipment per procedures.
- Provides a safe, clean and well-stocked department.
- Delivers equipment safely and in an organized fashion to Sterile Processing for decontamination and sterile processing.
- Completes thorough documentation in EHR.
- Assistance with any needed functions within the department. This includes, but is not limited to: Housekeeping Functions, Assisting in Sterilization Department, Room Stocking, and floating to other departments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
