Job Summary
The Interfaith Outreach and Programs Coordinator will play a central role in advancing the mission of the CIOGC Interfaith Committee; to establish constructive dialogue and partnerships with other faith groups, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation for the common good of the broader community, in alignment with the principles of the Quran and Sunnah.
This role involves coordinating interfaith initiatives, building strategic relationships, and supporting member organizations in their interfaith efforts. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, organizer, and bridge-builder with a strong passion for interfaith engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Interfaith Program Coordination
- Plan, organize, and execute interfaith events that promote dialogue and collaboration with diverse faith groups
- Promote and support member organizations by encouraging broader participation in interfaith activities. Provide guidance and facilitate interfaith efforts, and actively encourage engagement
Relationship Building & Community Engagement
- Represent CIOGC as a trusted and valued representative of the Islamic faith at interfaith gatherings and events
- Build and maintain strong relationships with faith-based organizations, and other community partners
- Engage with organizations that may hold misperceptions about Islam, working to correct misunderstandings and build bridges of respect
- Form alliances with partner organizations to address social and family-based issues impacting the community
Support for Member Organizations
- Provide guidance and support to CIOGC member organizations in developing and strengthening their interfaith initiatives
- Facilitate introductions to interfaith partners, encouraging collaboration and shared projects
Administrative & Strategic Support
- Track and manage event logistics, communications, and follow-ups related to interfaith activities
- Maintain records of interfaith engagements, partnerships, and impact reports
- Collaborate with the interfaith committee to develop strategies for expanding
- CIOGC’s interfaith presence
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Religious Studies, Social Sciences, Community Engagement, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Experience in interfaith work, community organizing, nonprofit management, or related fields
- Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Proven ability to plan and manage events, coordinate projects, handle multiple priorities, and reporting
- Knowledge of Islamic principles (Quran and Sunnah) and familiarity with diverse faith traditions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups
- Flexibility to attend events outside of regular working hours (evenings/weekends as needed)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.51 - $22.87 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
