Job Summary
The Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors of Wyoming County. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing engaging recreational programs that cater to the seniors. The Activities Coordinator will work collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources to create a vibrant and supportive environment that promotes social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being. This position also completes home delivered meal assessments and marketing in the community. The position requires a WV Cares background check approval. We are an EOP/EOE.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
- Plan and coordinate events that encourage participation from all residents, including those with varying abilities.
- Facilitate recreational therapy sessions aimed at improving residents' quality of life.
- Manage schedules for activities to ensure optimal participation while accommodating individual resident needs.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate activities into residents’ daily routines, focusing on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Train and supervise activity staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality programming.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve the activities offered.
- Engage with families to encourage their involvement in community events and resident activities.
- Foster relationships with local organizations to enhance programming through community resources.
Experience
- Previous experience in event planning or recreational therapy is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities in a long-term care setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with memory care programs and techniques is beneficial.
- Knowledge of home community care practices is a plus.
- Strong schedule management skills are essential to balance multiple activities effectively.
- A background in nursing home or assisted living environments will be advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
