Council on Aging of Volusia County, Inc. is looking for an energetic, dedicated and career-minded individual to be responsible for coordination of senior activities and events at our Deltona Senior Center. The Activities Coordinator will provide direct services to members for social, craft, recreational, and cultural activities. Prior experience in event coordination and working with senior population is preferred. Candidates must pass a Level II Background Screening, Drug Test and TB Test. Bilingual/Spanish is preferred.
The hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:00PM. NO NIGHTS OR WEEKENDS!!! (except for special events as needed)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate and coordinate staffing and operational activities, trips, special events and educational programs for the senior population with emphasis on health and well-being at the assigned senior center.
- Coordinate and supervise the use of all recreation equipment, supplies and materials.
- Manage all non-client administrative functions of operating the senior center, to include clerical duties as necessary.
- Responsible for meeting annual goals set for center, financial, recreational, donation collection, and memberships; including maintaining a membership database.
- Train and supervise volunteers in various capacities including, but not limited to, activity leaders, and site aides.
- Order materials and supplies as needed for Senior Center.
- Develop relationships with core community to integrate seniors into COA and community special events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in event/activities coordination
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Comfortable with public speaking in community outreach settings
- Willingness to work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds required; seniors preferred
- Professional image compatible with COA – positive attitude, energetic, assertive, and ability to serve as a role model
- Demonstrates integrity on personal and professional level; ability to provide services while maintaining confidentiality
- Ability and willingness to substitute for other positions at the site or other locations, if needed
- Bilingual/Spanish is preferred
COMPETENCIES: Solid computer skills are a MUST for this position. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required, as are the operating skills of office equipment such as copiers, printers, scanners and fax machines. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and appropriate levels of insurance coverage
