What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Coordinator position at Council on Aging of Volusia County, Inc.?
The Nutrition Coordinator acts as a program representative for the daily operation of the assigned dining site and Meals on Wheels program at the assigned dining site; this position oversees and participates in the packaging of meals with the aid of staff and/or volunteers. This position may be required to deliver meals if no other staff or volunteer is available.
Hours are 7:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday!!
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the accurate ordering of the weekly congregate meal order for all congregate diners in a way as to minimize overage.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate paperwork including but not limited to; monitoring forms, rosters, reservation logs, client folders, volunteer paperwork and supply orders.
- Be familiar with the goals and objectives of the Older Americans Act and share responsibility for meeting annual goals on meals served and donations collected.
- Establish a cooperative working relationship with the Programs Manager, Nutrition & Activities and be receptive to participate in developing, and willing to implement new and innovative ideas regarding dining site activities.
- Responsible for scheduling all Meals on Wheels and kitchen volunteers to ensure site runs efficiently and all MOW meals are delivered.
- Initiate and maintain community outreach to assist in enlisting volunteers.
- Responsible for establishing a yearly Site Advisory Council that meets the Department of Elder Affairs requirements, in order to report twice per year on menu changes, site complaints and/or suggestions, in order to make site improvements.
- Responsible for dispersing the monthly nutrition education information for congregate and MOW clients; distributes surveys to both MOW and congregate clients to ensure education information is effectively received.
- Maintain safe food handling and sanitation as established by 64E-11 of the Florida Statutes.
- Responsible for inspecting the dining site twice per year to ensure site is in compliance.
- Performs the functions of food aide and delivery driver, if necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of principles, techniques, practices and procedures as related to food and nutrition services. .
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout COA, other constituents and the public.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with all levels of constituents.
- Ability to represent COA professionally with integrity, character and professional drive.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to utilize general office equipment and other necessary equipment, including personal computer and various software packages.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and appropriate levels of insurance coverage
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain ServSafe Florida food handler certification. (must obtain within first three months of employment). Must have knowledge and experience with Microsoft programs and overall computer experience.
