The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Treatment Therapist, Lead Clinician for our adolescent and adult substance abuse programs in Lompoc

This is a great position for someone desiring hands-on experience in counseling or helping profession. CADA provides ongoing training in counseling & substance abuse issues and supports employees in obtaining certification as a counselor.   

We are looking for a counselor to join our dynamic teams at the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Treatment Center and the Project Recovery Adult Treatment Center, where we are dedicated to helping both adolescents and adults on the road to recovery and health. The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for working with diverse age groups and be interested in implementing a variety of innovative interventions with our clients. As a part of the adolescent and adult treatment teams, you will gain valuable experience working with youth, families, and adults while contributing to CADA’s mission to build a safer and healthier community. 

Qualifications:     
  • Master’s degree in helping profession (Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, etc.)   
  • Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT), LCSW, LPCC, Registered Associate, or equivalent  
  • Minimum one year experience in the field of alcohol/drug counseling and/or therapy 
  • Specific knowledge of individual counseling principles and techniques, substance abuse assessment and case planning, and therapeutic interventions for substance abuse  
  • Knowledge of resources for treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation in South Santa Barbara County  
  • Ability to communicate professionally in writing and orally  
  • Ability to communicate verbally with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds  
  • High standard of professional ethics  
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and bi-cultural preferred  
Responsibilities: 
  • Provide group and individual counseling, as well as family therapy to assigned clients 
  • Assess client needs, establish medical necessity, and create treatment plans 
  • Communicate regularly with support persons (parents, probation, family) as permitted 
  • Maintain compliance with Title 22 Guidelines and SB County Behavioral Wellness policies 
  • Accurately complete documentation within prescribed timeframes 
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and trainings 
  • Stay updated on literature and research in addiction treatment 
  • For Associates: Attend clinical supervision as required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences 
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Director 
  • Special Duties for CYBHI/DBT Grant: 
    • Participate in DBT training and maintain accreditation 
    • Conduct screenings and assessments for youth, focusing on DBT principles 
    • Include parental/family involvement in therapy sessions 
    • Coordinate care with group counselors and complete necessary documentation 
This is a Full-Time position, 40 hours per week. This is an in-person position, and a successful candidate would be required onsite in Lompoc.    

Compensation is dependent of the level of prior experience and qualifications, with a salary range of $24-$30 and a rate increase potential for bilingual (Spanish/English).   

In compliance with the California Department of Health Care Services, residential treatment staff require an up-to-date Tuberculosis test during the duration of employment.
