Position Summary

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks, with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.

 

As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support the work of the senior fellow for global governance.

 

Please note that this position will begin in summer 2025.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide administrative support to the senior fellow, including scheduling appointments, handling phone calls and media requests, making travel arrangements, drafting correspondence, and keeping an organized record of relevant past engagements.
  • Research specific areas, including international institutions, global commons, and governance of outer space for a book, as well as for articles, opinion pieces, Council reports, and other publications, as requested by the senior fellow
  • Coordinate events, including preparing invitations, travel arrangements, corresponding with speakers and presiders, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support
  • Assist with the drafting, proofreading, and editing of written material
  • Assist in managing budgets, including tracking monthly statements, monitoring grant information, writing reports and requests, creating and updating Excel spreadsheets, and preparing vouchers for reimbursement
  • Assist in maintaining and updating fellow’s and program’s webpages with new publications, events, and media; also assisting with social media outreach, including publishing a blog, website, video, and/or using social media applications as needed
  • Provide support across departmental lines and for other fellows, upon request.

Qualifications

Experience

  • A master’s degree preferred in a relevant discipline, such as international relations, political science, or related social sciences field, with high academic achievement.  At minimum, bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1 year related research and administrative experience
  • Expertise on a broad array of multilateral institutions and global issues
  • Proven ability to handle a wide breadth of concepts and issue areas

Related Skills & Other Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and internet research
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, and note-taking skills
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Familiarity with formal professional settings.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $55,000 – $58,000, depending on experience.
