What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Coordinator / Veteran Suicide Prevention Services position at Council on Substance Abuse-NCADD?
The mission of the Council on Substance Abuse (COSA) is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of the disease of alcoholism, other drug addiction diseases, and related problem. The Suicide Program Coordinator works with key staff and is responsible for the implementation of grant activities on a veterans suicide prevention project. The Coordinator reports to the Program Manager.
CORE JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Provide assistance to Program Manager on grant program requirements and expectations and respond to requests for information, data and compliance updates as directed.
- Coordinate with and provide technical guidance, consultation and related support training, awareness campaigns and other events.
- Assist with development and performance of information on current level of awareness, attitudes, and perceptions of suicide prevention gaps and barriers, particularly related to groups at high risk.
- Collaborate with the Evaluator for the collection, compilation and analysis of program activity data necessary for routine reporting and project evaluation.
- Write, edit and present comprehensive program reports.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in public or health service administration, human services or related degree, plus 3 years related experience.
- Experience with federal grant administration.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience collaborating with partners and constituents to accomplish projects.
- Experience providing public presentations and trainings.
- Experience creating training materials and informational materials.
- Knowledge of the principles and methods used in the collection, analysis and presentation of statistical, economic, health and administrative data.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively on interdisciplinary team, to take initiative, and to be flexible in response to developing demands and challenges of the position.
- Ability to work effectively, prioritize duties, and follow directions with minimum supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regularly sits at a desk, drives a motor vehicle, and lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Works for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail.

- Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends if the Executive Director
- Work occasionally requires traveling using agency and/or personal vehicle.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
