The Council Rock School District is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Principal at the high school level. The Council Rock School District, recognized as one of the premier school districts in the region, is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, 30 minutes north of Philadelphia, and just across the Delaware River from Princeton, New Jersey, and serves approximately 11,160 students in two high schools, two middle schools and ten elementary schools with 1,350 employees in our 18 facilities. This is an outstanding opportunity for an educationally motivated administrator with a strong understanding of middle school teaming philosophies/principles and educational leadership. Responsibilities will include the overall building management, supervision, and the fostering of a positive learning environment as well as the facilitation of student discipline. Qualifications for this position include PA K-12 Principal or PA Secondary Principal Certification. Experience teaching at the middle school level, middle and/or secondary school administration, and/or K-12 building administration highly preferred. Also required are excellent organizational, instructional, public relations, communication and supportive leadership skills; strong attention to detail. Full position description can be found below:

SUMMARY: Assist the Principal in the daily operations of the school by providing leadership and vision that results in a quality education program for all students. Also responsible for the supervision of all teaching, clerical and service staff members. Maintains a close relationship with the leadership team of the district and the Superintendent to assure that the programs and policies of the School Board are carried out in an efficient and uniform manner.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Faculty, Office Staff, and Substitute Teachers and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these staff members.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include assisting with the master schedule for students, faculty, and staff; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; observing; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supports the efforts of the principal by participating in weekly administrative meetings to discuss ongoing operations. Prepares for and conducts faculty meetings.
  • Supports the efforts of the principal to plan, implement and oversee activities outside of the regular workday such as, Back to School Night, Open House, Graduation, etc.
  • Promotes a positive image of the school through public relations, strong partnerships with business, industry, educational, and community-based organizations.
  • Prepares and manages yearly budget submissions for assigned areas of operation.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes/updates to the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.
  • Recommends staffing changes and organizational restructuring as deemed necessary.
  • Serves on school-wide committees as member or chairperson, as needed.
  • Attends IEP meetings as needed.
  • Maintains active membership in professional organizations and represents CR at local, state, and national meetings, workshops, and conferences, when and where applicable.
  • Participates at ad hoc committee meetings as assigned.
  • Assigns, directs, and supervises faculty and support staff as they affect the instructional programs and daily operations of the school.
  • Supervises and approves budget requests and directs the overall expenditures of monies for supplies, materials, and equipment of assigned programs.
  • Assists in coordinating activities for orientation of newly hired teachers in assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Maintain high visibility in the school.
  • Serve as a role model for expected staff behavior.
  • Effectively cope with crises and emergencies.
  • Foster collegial relationships with and among teachers and staff.
  • Encourages parent and community visits and involvement in decision making.
  • Keeps abreast of current changes and developments within the profession.
  • Seeks information from appropriate sources and strives for consensus on the decision-making process.
  • Considers alternatives and consequences in decision making process.
  • Makes decisions in a timely fashion and maximizes decision effectiveness by actions.
  • Clearly communicates decisions and rationale to all affected.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Secondary Principal Certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Master's degree with at least five years of teaching experience.
