Position Title: Computer Network Technician, Permanent Support Staff
Level of Employment: Support Staff – CRESPA

Reports to: Infrastructure Manager
SUMMARY: Network Technicians provide complex, technical support for computer and network systems; carries out novel and/or complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures. The Network Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the network infrastructure, including Windows servers running Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, SharePoint, .NET, ADO, Terminal Services, Citrix, SMS, MOM, and Veritas backup. There will also be some day-to-day maintenance of the network, wireless network, Call Manager, and VoIP telephones. Additionally, the Technician will be responsible for the installation and configuration of new servers and network equipment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- College degree preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a support role or 2-4 years of related professional experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support, troubleshoot District wide end-point specific platforms (SCCM, FortiClient, JAMF, Timeclocks, etc.)
- Installs, configures, and maintains computer and network operating system and application software, as appropriate; provides on-call support for computer/network systems as required.
- Provide support for the phone systems, servers, storage and access points.
- Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network systems technologies, architectures, and products.
- Oversee the daily performance of computer network.
- Troubleshoots network performance issues.
- Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
- Provides technical support and guidance to users.
- Has thorough knowledge of “best practices”, concepts, and procedures within a particular field.
- Creates instructions and establishes guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Maintains record of daily communications, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities.
- Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Educate, inform, and demonstrate the Acceptable Use Policy and other related District policies.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time, 261-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are based on the location assignment and are dependent on the needs of the program. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
REQUIRED PAPERWORK: In order to begin employment in any PA public school, all employees are required to complete mandatory paperwork. Background employment clearances must be completed within the last year to be valid and include:

Some additional paperwork includes Arrest/Conviction Report form, PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure (Act 168), physician’s health form and recently completed TB test.
Salary : $33
