Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide individualized support and assistance to adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings, including their homes, community environments, and day programs. This role involves working closely with clients to help them achieve their personal goals, improve their quality of life, and promote their independence. Counterpoint has been serving adults with disabilities since 1976. Prior experience in the field is not required and paid training is provided for all staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care and Support: Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Community Integration: Support clients in participating in community activities, including shopping, recreational outings, and social events.
- Behavioral Support: Implement individualized behavior support plans and strategies to promote positive behavior.
- Skill Development: Assist clients in developing and improving life skills, such as communication, budgeting, and socialization.
- Health and Safety: Monitor and report on clients’ health and well-being, including administering medications as prescribed and ensuring a safe environment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, incidents, and any changes in behavior or health.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clients' families, healthcare providers, and their care team members to coordinate care and support.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs and preferences, ensuring their rights are respected and their voices are heard.
Applicants must be of legal age to complete job requirements, possess a valid driver license, and receive criminal background clearance upon hire. Benefits include a $1500.00 retention bonus upon completion of training requirements.
