What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatics Supervisor position at Country Club of Birmingham?
Position would be from May to September with 25-30 hours a week.
Pay is $16/Hr plus commission on swim lessons
Essential Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible, under the supervision of the aquatics director for assisting in the planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating those aspects within the aquatics department in accordance with the mission, purposes, and policies of the Country Club of Birmingham. Additional responsibilities include orienting, training, and supervising all staff. The position will act on behalf on the aquatics director in their absence and always shall work within the guidelines and policies of the aquatics department.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service by exceeding member expectations
- Responsible for supervising (in consultation with Aquatics Director) of all pool staff, including lifeguards and swim instructors
- Maintain full stock of inventory in the pool shop and notify Director of Aquatics when to reorder items
- Track staff certificates
- Input course records for red cross classes
- Maintain hourly counts for pool and update on a weekly basis
- Maintain inventory of lifeguard uniforms
- Maintain stock of first aid equipment
- Work closely with aquatics director in the execution of swim lessons
- Be available to teach or guard as needed
- Be available to answer member needs
- In conjunction with the aquatics director, oversee all required safety staff and quality training, drills and documentation
- Act as manager on duty during assigned shifts when the Director of Aquatics is not present.
- Aid and implement special events that relate to aquatics and the Country Cub of Birmingham
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Aquatics
Qualifications
- Previous experience in pool management, lifeguarding, or a related field preferred.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of pool safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in emergency situations.
- Lifeguard certified (or willingness to obtain certification). Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred but not required.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and evenings.
