Breakfast Attendant
Job Summary:
Responsible for preparing, setting up, restocking and breaking down of the hot breakfast while providing a high quality of service to guests.
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for the smooth running, cost-effective and efficient operation of the complimentary hotel breakfast
- Providing personalized service to all guests
- Setting up and maintaining the breakfast bar as required by brand/management standards and local health department regulations
- Taking inventory of food, beverages, and supplies needed for each day
- Preparing and stocking food, beverages and supplies
- Continually clearing and cleaning breakfast area during hours of operation
- Restocking items consistently throughout the breakfast hours and for the following day
- Keeping breakfast area clean including removing trash, cleaning breakfast area and kitchen counters, cabinets and floors
- Maintains all dispensing machines, operating equipment and serving utensils in a neat and clean manner to ensure maximum job efficiency and an appealing presentation
- Washing serving equipment and dishes and returning them storage
- Mop/vacuum floors in and around breakfast area and prep room
- Maintain a safe work environment for both staff and guests
- Listen and respond to guest needs
- Provide hotel and area information to guests upon request
- Act as ‘salesperson’ for the hotel by asking guests about their stay, what brings them to the area, etc. and relaying pertinent information to front desk and/or management
- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Qualification Standards:
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of all services and facilities of the hotel, as well as the local area to effectively assist guests
- Ability to accept directions and priorities from supervisor and reliably follow-thru on tasks
- Ability to perform job duties with minimal disruption to guests
- Ability to be friendly and interact with others as well as provide assistance as needed to guests and staff
- Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
- Ability to report to work on time, well groomed, in uniform, with nametag, ready to work and wearing a smile.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Ability to observe practices that foster guest satisfaction
Safety:
- Observe strictly all safety and security policies or practices that impact the welfare of guest, staff, or the condition of this lodging facility.
- Observe strictly the hotel’s key control procedures
- Report suspicious activity to supervisor
- Remedy or report safety or security hazards when observed
- Ask questions when in doubt about a policy or procedure
