We’re looking for a leader skilled in guiding complex post-acute healthcare teams and entities to serve as the healthcare privacy expert in coordinating and overseeing the Corporate Compliance Program for Country Meadows assisted living and skilled nursing facilities and management company, not-for-profit Ecumenical Retirement Community, Lifesong Hospice, Allegheny Insurance Company captive. Corporate Compliance Officer Responsibilities:
- Acts as staff to the CEO and Board by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance and ethics efforts of the company and in providing guidance for the Board and senior management team on matters relating to reporting and compliance.
- Leads risk management and corporate compliance programs, through development and execution of company-wide Risk Assessment and strategy plan that prioritizes processes, planning, and documentation of activities to reduce risk associated with clinical care and business aspects of the company.
- Oversees regulatory compliance with federal, state and accreditation agencies as it pertains to risk management, corporate compliance and training. Utilizes OIG’s 7 Elements from the General Compliance Program Guidance as a model.
- Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develops and implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Analyzes and classifies risks as to frequency and potential severity, and measures the financial impact of risk on the company.
- Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues and concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved. Completes investigations and interviews as needed to ensure that co-workers, residents and families have access to provide direct feedback regarding concerns.
- Assists with: maintaining policies for all insurances; claims for all insurance programs; issuance of certificates of insurance; budget planning; and risk minimization programs in collaboration with Director of Commercial Insurance, Workers’ Compensation and Compliance.
- Serves as chair of Corporate Compliance Council; coordinates audits and other work with leadership.
- Has direct access and meets routinely with the Compliance, Ethics and Quality Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Ensures adherence to DOH, CGS, and CMS-specific compliance requirements with the VPs who oversee SNF and hospice.
- Attends quality assurance/ QAPI meetings and other committee meetings as appropriate and assists in activities related to risk management, corporate compliance, and training.
- Analyzes trends to determine training needs within the organization. Assists in development of training content, formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops. Acts as instructor in presenting content as needed
- Responsible for following the code of conduct that is the foundation for GMLFC Corporate Compliance program; reporting any violations of the code or conduct of the compliance program; disclosing any personal violation of the code of conduct to the appropriate management staff; following the policies and procedures established for meeting HIPAA regulations; reporting any violations of HIPAA regulations.
Corporate Compliance Officer Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in leading complex post-acute healthcare teams and entities in regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with health care laws, regulations and standards with a strong understanding of compliance and regulatory best practices in the post-acute care environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare, Clinical Compliance or related field.
- Understanding of coding and reimbursement systems, risk management and performance improvement helpful.
- Experience developing effective training for a desk-less healthcare workforce.
- Lifelong learner who stays aware of changing regulatory environment and trends in healthcare innovation.
