We are a small business looking for a couple of part-time/full time Kennel Assistant/Bather for our busy boarding/grooming facility. We are located in a beautiful area and work closely with each dog that comes in.

Kennel Duties

• Cleaning and disinfecting boarding rooms and other areas of the facility, such as the office and hallways.
• General care for the dogs, including feeding, watering, medicating, and socializing
• Taking phone calls and emails, and processing reservations

• Checking clients in and out for their boarding stay
• Keeping yards picked up and the facility clean throughout the day - we get tours on the spot so our workplace must look presentable at all times

• Taking charge to make sure all tasks get completed correctly and in a timely manner

• Other miscellaneous duties to keep the facility working smoothly

Bathing Duties

• Bathe multiple dogs a day in a timely manner
• Express dog anals and de-matt, if necessary
• Work with honorary dogs and dogs that require special treatment (such as older dogs, dogs with neurological defects, nervous dogs, and owners with specific requests for how their dog is taken care of)
• Clean bathing and grooming side daily

Requirements Genuine compassion, concern, and respect for animals

• Dependability and strong work ethic. This is a small shop and you must be able to work closely with others and respect each other.

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to work on feet for extended hours
• Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, etc. repetitively
• Must be willing to work with animals that may be scared, be able to remain calm under stressful situations (such as a dog fight), and not be afraid to make friends with intimidating dogs
• Must be able to work weekends. With alternating days, weekends off will be alternated
• Must have reliable transportation. We are far off public transportation routes. You must be able to make it into work on poor weather days
• Must be at least 18 yrs old
• Previous animal handling experience and knowledge is a huge plus
• Be able to multitask in a chaotic environment

This job can be very messy and you will have to clean up after a dog if it potties or vomits inside the building. You will have to express anals and clean a dog's behind of all feces. You will be working with dogs, often many at a time, of all different personalities. You must be willing to get dirty, scratched, bruised, etc. in the process of the care of these animals.
