Job Summary
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging recreational programs for residents in a nursing home or assisted living facility. This role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents through meaningful activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being. The Activities Director will work closely with residents, families, and staff to ensure that all activities are tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals, including those with memory care and dementia-related challenges.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that caters to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Organize and lead group activities, including arts and crafts, games, music therapy, exercise classes, and outings.
- Assess residents' needs and preferences to create personalized activity plans.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' health care plans.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding upcoming events and resident participation.
- Train and supervise volunteers or staff assisting in activity programs.
- Stay informed about aging issues and best practices in recreational therapy to enhance program offerings.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a nursing home or long-term care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices, memory care techniques, and dementia care strategies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Experience in recreational therapy or related field is a plus.
- Ability to work with individuals with disabilities and understand their unique needs.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.38 - $17.19 per hour
