What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchandising Assistant position at Country Supplier?
The Merchandising Assistant works directly with and for the Buyer and supports him / her in the merchandising of assigned product categories. The Merchandising Assistant is the analytical support person for the company's data system, entering and monitoring daily the product information for reorders. This person, under the direction of the buyer, communicates and works closely with store operations and vendors as related to product and inventory.

- Understands and maintains order point calculations within the company replenishment system.
- Enters vendor, item and ordering information into company replenishment system.
- Enters and monitors purchase orders.
- Processes accurate and timely replenishment orders.
- Work with vendors to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Maintains vendor and item data integrity within the operating system.
- Utilize Excel and Horizon systems, importing and exporting vendor and item data to maintain vendor and item files.
- Manage seasonal inventory levels through the proper use and application of seasonal codes at the item and category level.
- Authorizes payment of invoices or return of shipment.
- Completes customer special orders and communicates to appropriate store(s).
- On occasion work a store sales floor and sell merchandise to become familiar with customers' attitudes, preferences, and purchasing habits and how merchandising decisions relate.
- Some overnight travel to vendor shows as experience in the position warrants.
- Employee must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
