Nutrition Formulator

JOB OVERVIEW:

We’re hiring a Swine Nutrition Formulator based in Middletown, PA to lead the execution of the CVFF swine nutrition programs. In this role, you will be responsible for providing updated and accurate finished feed formulas to our company-owned feed mills and toll milling partners to ensure optimal performance. Enjoy our progressive operations including specialty feeding programs, electronic sow feeding (ESF), and open pen gestation. You will report to the Swine Nutritionist and will be a vital team member of the CVFF Nutrition Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver formulation expertise through the management of new and revised diets
• Evaluate diets weekly to ensure to best cost and formulas meet diet specifications
• Routinely update ingredient nutrient loadings to ensure accuracy in diet formulation and feed manufacturing
• Work with ingredient procurement team on correct value of ingredients for supplier selection and relative value of alternative ingredients
• Promptly respond to feed mill needs if formula updates are needed due to ingredient availability or production needs
• Interact professionally and promptly with all customers of the nutrition department including production, ingredient procurement, feed manufacturing, toll mills, research, and health and animal care
• Provide infield expertise and support for nutrition related issues
• Possess an ability to conduct swine nutrition research including experimental design, writing of research protocols, conducting trials, data management, and analysis of data
• Work through the lens of continuous improvement in the areas of quality assurance and food safety/FSMA to ensure safety, accuracy, and to deliver results
• Accurately keep track of nutrition department controllable savings and progress

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Work Experience

• Master’s degree in Animal Science, Ag Economics, Ag Business (Preferred)
• OR Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences, Ag Economics, Ag Business or related field
  • 2 years of experience in feed formulation, swine nutrition research, or feed manufacturing

• Masters or better in Animal Science or related field
