Country View Family Farms seeks a detail-oriented Feed Mill Operator in our New Columbia, PA Feed Mill. This role ensures safety and quality standards while overseeing feed inventories and equipment operation.
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer proficiency, and preferably, experience with forklifts. Physical capability to lift heavy items and work in diverse environmental conditions is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform duties safely consistent with CVFF policies, procedures, and safety training.
- Monitor ingredient and finished feed inventories as required.
- Maintain good housekeeping according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in assigned areas.
- Perform general labor duties as assigned by management.
- Ensure micro-bins are filled according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collect all required samples as defined in the Quality Assurance Manual and SOPs.
- Perform all required testing as outlined in SOPs.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
- Monitor batching, pelleting, fat application, grinding, and routing processes.
- Input information into the computer automation system accurately.
- Operate equipment automatically or manually via computer automation consistent with procedures.
- Promote safe work practices through example and maintain a lost work day incident rate of zero.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Feed mill experience or related preferred.
- Able to follow detailed instructions, task-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Able to handle paperwork with accuracy.
- Previous forklift experience preferred.
- Good reading, writing, math, and communication skills.
- Work well with others as a team.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Able to swing a sledgehammer and carry 60-pound ingredient bags.
- Able to work at heights and climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and work in hot and cold environments.
Starting rate: $18 an hour (Negotiable based on feed mill experience).
