What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Engineering Summer Internship position at Countrymark Refining and Logistics?
Position Summary: This internship is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to experience what CountryMark has to offer the in their field of interest. The Intern will receive assignments with objectives and milestones and will complete a presentation regarding their work and experience at the completion of their internship.
Interns are involved in education and training programs designed to provide students with professional experience in the furtherance of their education and training and are academically oriented for their benefit. Internships assist students in reaching their educational goals by providing them an opportunity to augment classroom instruction with exposure to a real world employment setting.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
* Monitor daily production unit resolving issues related to production, quality and/or process efficiency.
* Develop early stage project documentation such as Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Drawings, Equipment Specification Sheets, Etc.
* Update existing unit documentation as directed by site leadership.
* Utilize engineering skills to resolve Process Safety Management action item within the refinery.
* Participate in team meetings reporting on progress of action items seeking input from seasoned engineering team members when applicable.
* Follow company policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information.
* Assume personal and professional responsibilities for all of his/her actions and assigned activities.
* Be consistent and punctual in submission of all work assignments to their supervisor.
* Other technical duties as assigned during the intern assignment.
Minimum Requirements:
* 3.0 / 4.0 GPA
* Junior or Senior Class Level
Working Conditions (relates to physical environment):
Work environment will include both an indoor office environment and outside refinery equipment. While in the refinery, there is potential of an exposure to a high noise level environment, dust, dirt, grease, hydrocarbon vapors and other potentially dangerous chemical compounds. Prior to exposure to the refinery environment, extensive safety training will be required along with the use of personal protective equipment.
CountryMark will provide candidate personal protective equipment.
Physical Demands:
Typical work environment will include periods of office work performing engineering tasks. However, the candidate must be able to stoop and bend on a frequent basis. Occasionally, the candidate may be required to perform moderate lifting of up to 25-50 lbs. Good hearing, vision, and depth perception are required. Must be able to maneuver around a process unit – climb ladders, stairs, etc. for process troubleshooting activities.
