Job Type: Full time- includes benefits and some overtime when eligible, must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays

Job Summary: The Nursery and L&G department manager works primarily in the nursery and lawn & garden department. The nursery manager is responsible for leading and supervising the nursery and L&G department. Delegating and encouraging the nursery team members to stay on task and working together as a team is critical. Nursery stock and display maintenance will be another one of the primary roles and tasks for the nursery department manager. Educating and providing additional information to customers will also be a primary function. Secondary tasks include merchandising and store maintenance.

Position Outline: The nursery and L&G department manager is a key position during the busy spring and summer seasons. Delegating and leading the nursery and L&G team is an extremely important role filled by the nursery department manager. Nursery yard and plant maintenance is one of the main tasks fulfilled by the Nursery and L&G department manager. Helping customers with plants and L&G products are another role the Nursery and L&G department manager fulfills. The essential job functions include (but are not limited to) are:

· Operate in a leadership position to delegate and provide direction to the nursery and L&G team members

· Provide top-notch CountryMax helpful service, including carrying out all products for customers and patrons

· With the requisite training, the Nursery and L&G department manager will need to operate Point of Sale terminals and handle financial transactions

· Assist in the nursery stock ordering process including creating and receiving orders, placing fill-in orders, and communicating with the nursery buyer to fill special order requests

· Consistently provide plant care and maintenance including watering, pruning and plant rotation

· Design and create appealing nursery stock displays to market and display a variety of nursery stock based on seasonal trends and customer demand

· Educate and provide information for customers in relation to the nursery and L&G departments

Position Requirements:

The nursery and L&G department manager will primarily work in the nursery yard and in the L&G department

· Experience in a previous leadership position is a plus but not required

· Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred, but not required

· Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

· A basic Knowledge of plants and nursery stock is also preferred but not required

· Must be able to stand on your feet for up to 12 hours or during the store’s operating hours

· Helpful service and keen social skills are a must

· Ability to work as a team in a retail atmosphere

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
