What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Assistant/Veterinary Assistant position at Countryside Veterinary Clinic?
We are looking to add a Kennel tech/assistant to our team for a *part time* position, 18-25 hours/week. ***Experience required***
Shifts available: Monday 1:30p-6:00p, Wednesday 1:30p-6p, Thursday 11a-6p, and one or two weekends a month. ***all employees are required to work 1-2 holiday kennels a year
Must be able to do physical work and lift 40-50 pounds and have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities include but not limited to
- Providing comfort and safety to animals.
- Assisting with procedures and treatments.
- Communicating with clients.
- Maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Assisting veterinarians and vet technicians
- Cleaning and sterilizing kennels, operating rooms, examining rooms, cages, and surgical equipment.
- Setting up test and running diagnostic equipment

Qualifications
- Veterinary experience
- Dog handling skills
- Animal handling experience
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology
- Proficiency in animal care and restraint
- Ability to perform animal catheterization
- Previous experience in pet care or as a veterinary assistant
- Kennel experience
- Familiarity with animal husbandry and anatomy
- Aseptic technique knowledge
- Laboratory experience in a veterinary setting
