Summer Seasonal Membership Attendant
POSITION SUMMARY: This position serves our membership seasonally as a first point of contact as they scan their cards on entering the lower level desk area; assists and greets members and participants, and provides information as needed in a courteous, timely, and friendly manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greets members immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Uses a positive and clear speaking voice to address the member by name when possible during entry and exit of the facility.
- Checks members for membership cards as they enter the facility
- Assists members and participants in signing in guests, records forgotten cards, and answers questions
- Handles guest fees accurately giving correct change
- Keeps the entry area and desk station neat and clean
- Closes, Balances, and Deposits Night Deposits
- Follows all safety and risk management procedures and reports any safety issues to the supervisor.
- Assists in Scholarship Fund Raising activities
- Communicates up to date class and activity information to members and participants;answers member questions about programs, services, schedules and the facility
- Refers members to appropriate departments or staff when necessary
- Answers incoming calls promptly and courteously
- Tracks member complaints and notifies appropriate managers/supervisors regarding behavioral situations which occur in and around YMCA facilities
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by business necessity
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must be 18 years of age with a High School Diploma and must pass a criminal background check. Prior customer-service experience is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Proficiency and comfort working in membership software (ie. Daxko), Google Workspace (staff email) and other technology platforms.
- Friendly, outgoing personality to connect with members and provide a high level of customer service
- Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to navigate conversations with tact and courtesy
- Up to date knowledge of YMCA classes, facilities and special events
- Ability to accurately handle monetary transactions and balancing
- Reliable, punctual attendance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Noise in the work environment is moderate to noisy depending on the activity level of prospective and current members.
