Job Summary
Provide professional supervision, maintenance, and operations of the campus electrical distribution system. Perform in-house electrical renovations, repairs and modifications to electrical distribution systems, fire alarm devices and network/computer cabling infrastructure system. Supervise electrical operations and be responsible for the safe and code compliant operations of said systems within their job duties. Perform work on the Township’s approved annual electrical permit which avoids individual job permitting, additional costs, and permitting. Ensure compliance with updated and changing electrical code requirements by fulfilling continuing education courses. Protect the College’s operations by maintaining electrical infrastructure and systems and perform emergency work to help ensure critical College functions can be maintained. This position has an Essential Employee Verification Card.
1. Provide planning and support for electrical systems and troubleshoot, inspect repairs on all campus electrical systems (transformers, circuit breakers, lighting circuits, fire alarm systems, HVAC equipment and electric motors.
2. Supervise the installation and relocation of all computer cabling and fiber required for the campus computer network system.
3. Provide code required supervision and oversight in planning, scheduling, installation, repair/alteration, and inspection of all electrical equipment for the generation, transmission, or utilization of energy (electrical systems, panels, fire alarm systems, HVAC equipment). Responsible for signing off on electrical technical specification sheets for permits, and code responsibilities under a Qualified Journeyman Electrician License.
4. Supervise and perform preventative maintenance work orders generated by the computerized maintenance system for campus electrical system, i.e., electrical panels, lighting, data network lines, fire alarm systems, performs up to and including mid voltage electrical work.
5. Maintain a complete inventory of parts including, but not limited to, motors, bulbs, fuses, wire, tools, electrical hardware, and miscellaneous electrical supplies. Order supplies as needed. Maintain proper inventory.
6. Respond to call-in requests pertaining to electrical emergencies including troubleshooting and emergency repairs to prevent major disruptions to the College’s academic and support operations. 7. Assist in the coordination and implementation of special requests for college activities and external events.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned which may include minor renovations but not limited to, electrical assignments.

Qualifications - Education
NJ Qualified Journey Electrical License as per P.L.2001, c.21 (C45:5A-11.1) required.
NJ State Licensed Electrical Contractor as per L.1962,c.162,s.9;amended 1962,c.185,s.7;1968,c.17,s.2; 1990preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred

Qualifications - Experience
Minimum of five years of experience with industrial electrical systems.
Experience in troubleshooting and with minor repairs of fire alarm systems required.

Job Experience: Minimum of five years of experience with industrial electrical systems. Experience in troubleshooting and with minor repairs of fire alarm systems required.
Other: Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders and scaffolding. Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits. Must be able to see color to discern color coded wiring. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Must have a valid driver’s license.
