Job Summary
All faculty positions have as their primary objective to create a dynamic teaching/learning environment for our students, while contributing service to the college. Faculty responsibilities include teaching assigned courses at all levels in the Engineering Technologies and Engineering Science programs, particularly focused in the Electrical Discipline, and following the course descriptions and course outlines established by the department. Teaching schedules may include day/evening courses and online/hybrid instruction and other instructional modalities. They include courses in Circuit Analysis, digital and microprocessor design, PLC, electronics communication systems, actuators, transducers and robotic systems (as well as other engineering/physics related courses). In accordance with the Faculty Association collective bargaining agreement (CBA), additional activities may include instructional development, academic advisement, support of college activities, service to other committees and professional development.
Qualifications - Education
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in an appropriate engineering discipline or physics discipline is required. A doctorate in an appropriate discipline or PE License is preferred.
Qualifications - Experience
The ideal candidate possesses innovative thinking and has experience in teaching emerging technologies in the area of electronics, robotics, and industrial systems. Experience interacting with industry partners is a plus. Prior college or university teaching experience preferred, as is evidence of scholarly and/or professional activities. Candidates are preferred who, by virtue of training and/or experience in myriad aspects of the engineering field, specialize in electrical/electronics. The ideal candidate will be able to bring leadership to broadening the mission and focus of the engineering programs, with the goal of supporting the needs of industry in the Morris County region.
Qualifications - Skills
Knowledge of engineering discipline, including current developments and technologies, in both the electrical and mechanical fields of specialization. Knowledge of and commitment to the role and mission of a community college. Ability to adapt existing curriculum or develop new courses or new curriculum that can meet the needs of the community that the college serves. Ability to tutor in learning centers as appropriate. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
