Job Description:
This employment opportunity is to serve as the Clinical Director (Director of Family Counseling), a key leadership role in the Division overseeing the majority of the Division’s clinical programs and staff. Under the direction of the Division Director/Assistant Director, the Clinical Director organizes and supervises family counseling programs, staff, and ensures clinical best practices. Areas of responsibility include programs at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack, the Conklin Youth Center and Transitional Living Programs in Hackensack, and the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center/Youth Shelter complex in Teterboro.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide and organize family counseling services on a variety of economic, social, or other contemporary issues.
- Provide supervision as directed to professional and para-professional staff.
- Ensure clinical best practices, documentation requirements, and full compliance with any relevant regulatory or grant requirements.
- Review/revise procedure manuals to ensure treatment plans, case notes, and other written correspondence is in compliance with standards.
- In collaboration with program supervisors, oversee the audit of clinical charts to ensure adherence to standards of practice.
- Provide direction and oversight of evidence-based practices that are found to be effective in providing care to at-risk youth.
- Analysis, issues, and develops effective solutions to promote and provide safe, trauma-informed care to clients.
- Reviews and assigns cases to counselors, and provides advice and guidance to counseling staff.
- Evaluate effectiveness of program services and collaborate in development of policies and procedures.
- Oversee the application and management of Division of Family Guidance grants.
- Work with supervisors and staff at all levels of the Division to resolve problems and distribute resources. Interface with other governmental, nonprofit, and private agencies to create partnerships and coordinate services for clients.
Schedule: Full time (40 hours/week). Some night/weekend work required. The Director-level position will need to remain available on off hours to address exigent staff or client issues.
Education Requirements: Master’s Degree or higher in Social Work, or Doctorate in Psychology. Maintenance of full licensure in appropriate discipline is required.
Other Requirements:
- Minimum of five years post-licensure experience supervising clinical and supervisory staff.
- Experience in clinical assessment, child/adolescent development, and family dynamics.
- Residential and/or juvenile justice experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
