General Manager, Golf Courses - County of Bergen – Division of Park Operations
Under direction, administers a comprehensive operation maintenance, and development program for two or more golf courses and/or manages golf course revenue; directs employees engaged in golf course management programs; prepares and administers the budget; does other related duties
Knowledge and Abilities:
· Knowledge of the rules, regulations, practices, and procedures in golf play.
· Knowledge of the procedures used in the maintenance, repair, construction, and cleaning of a golf course.
· Knowledge of the practices, and procedures used to manage a revenue producing facility.
· Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the care and maintenance of golf courses.
· Knowledge of the specialized machinery and equipment used on golf courses.
· Knowledge of turf management procedures and techniques.
· Ability to organize and conduct golf tournaments.
· Ability to effectively manage the use of personnel, funds, and equipment in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a golf course and its facilities.
· Ability to provide assignments and instructions to golf course staff.
· Ability to work harmoniously with associates, citizens and others using the golf courses.
· Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports.
· Ability to maintain records and files.
· Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Schedule:
· Full time – Monday – Friday.
· Hours dependent on season.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Parks and recreation or related field.
Maintain PGA membership in good standing.
Other Requirements:
· Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
· Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
· Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market.
· Customer service focused attitude.
· Experienced computer user including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, such as email, internet, tournament, and databases.
· Valid NJ Driver’s License.
