Morgue Attendant – County of Bergen
Department of Public Safety – Division of Medical Examiners
Under direction, performs a variety of tasks preparatory to autopsies and/or to the removal of corpses from the facility; prepares morgue room and instruments to assist Pathologist/Physician in various examinations: does related work as required.
Knowledge and Abilities (may include but not limited to):
· Some knowledge of the tasks involved in a morgue and of procedures used in preserving specimens and preparing solutions.
· Knowledge of the problems encountered in dealing with members of medical professions, undertakers, and the general public.
· Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform.
· Ability to weigh and measure organs and specimens removed from the body.
· Ability to carry out repetitive tasks according to set procedures; to preserve specimens and solutions.
· Ability to move bodies and to perform cleaning tasks.
Schedule:
· Per Diem
Education &Experience:
· High School Diploma.
Skills and Special Requirements:
· One year of experience in a morgue or funeral parlor preferred.
