Tree Maintenance Worker

Job Description:
Responsible for tree removal, trimming, and pruning, which may be required due to environmental, aesthetic, roadway obstruction, or other safety-related factors. This is a full-time role for 40 hours a week.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cut away dead, obstructive, or excess branches from trees or shrubbery
- Utilize chainsaws and hacksaws to safely cut down trees and tree limbs
- Climb trees with safety devices or utilize buckets/lifts to properly cut down limbs and prune trees; remove branches away from power lines and reshape trees to aesthetically pleasing shapes
- Remove debris and cart away large logs and limbs for disposal; and clear parks, facilities, and roads of tree branches, fallen trees, and other debris
- May be required to water/fertilize trees, spray and treat diseased trees, and apply tar to cut surfaces to seal in moisture.
Education & Experience: One (1) year of experience in the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, which shall have included the use and/or operation of manual or mechanical equipment used to climb trees .
Skills:
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in tree maintenance work.
- Experience with tree removal and use of cutting/pruning equipment preferred.
