What are the responsibilities and job description for the Judicial Commissioner, PT position at COUNTY OF BLOUNT?
Under the directions of the Judicial Commissioner Director, the Judicial Commissioner, Part-Time reviews Criminal Warrants and ensures the warrants contain probable cause for an arrest. As well as, arraigns persons charged with crimes, sets court dates, and bail bond amounts. This is a 22-hours weekly part-time position. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Complete all arrest forms including Arrest Warrant, Initial Appearance, Question Form, Bond Conditions and etcetera;
- Issue Orders of Protection;
- Perform all data entry for the initial criminal case including: generating the forms, entering the information into the TNCIS system, and scanning all of the forms into the computer program(s);
- Arraign persons charged with crimes, set court dates and bail bond amounts for them;
- Reviews Affidavit of Complaints for Arrest; and
- Performs other assigned duties.
It is mandatory for Judicial Commissioner, Part-Time to:
- Support the principles and methods used and set forth by departmental practices and systems;
- Act under the authority of the General Sessions Judges;
- Support the schedule assigned; as this office is available in person 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year to prepare and issue criminal warrants and summons;
- Skillful using small office equipment, including printers, multi-line phones, computers and various software applications for data entry and record keeping;
- Propensity to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs;
- Routinely maintain tactful and professional conversations with others; including, while being confronted with controversial situations;
- Maintain organized working space, projects, and assignments; and
- Bolster and sustain a professional demeanor with the participants, colleagues, judges, lawyers, and other agencies; including calm, kind, and effective communications.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
- High School Diploma;
- Ten (10) years of working experience;
- Minimum 25 years of age at time of appointment;
- Resident of Blount County, TN;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning; and frequent work involves mobility to and from the parking lot and work station, other offices, and the employee break room.
