Trades Level I (Equipment Operator)(1st Shift)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Must have knowledge of bridge construction and maintenance. Must be able to operate backhoe, bulldozer, front end loader, bobcat, grader, tractor trailer for equipment relocation, and all types of tractors proficiently. (Five years’ minimum experience.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to read and understand blueprints and lay out excavation and grading with transit proficiently.
• Proficient in construction, carpentry, cement work, roofing materials, etc., as applicable to maintenance and repair of bridges.
• Ability to operate all necessary shop equipment including jackhammer, drill press, welding unit and other bridge related equipment.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Ability to direct work of others in harmonious and efficient manner.
• Must have full range of personal hand tools.
• Must have demonstrated experience in the trade.
• Provides accountability for tools and equipment used on jobs.
• Ability to physically perform trade duties.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma, trade school or equivalent.
• Must be able to drive both stick shift and automatic.
• Must have five years’ experience driving heavy equipment, dump trucks, snow plows, backhoe, bulldozer, front end loader, bobcat, etc.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) with air brake endorsement.
