The County of Champaign Forest Preserve seeks a highly motivated Natural Resources Conservation Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the staff, you will be responsible for assisting with natural areas management throughout the Preserves.
This includes invasive plant management, restoration and conservation of prairie/savanna, forest/woodlands, and wetlands. You will work closely with other departments to ensure seamless execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining natural area management plans.
- Conduct field observations and assessments to identify areas that require invasive plant management or other conservation efforts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies for restoring and conserving prairie/savanna, forest/woodlands, and wetlands ecosystems.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on project progress and outcomes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in natural area management, conservation, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in challenging outdoor environments.
