POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing a range of duties within the Family Court office of the Chester County Clerk’s of Court’s office, including but not limited to the entry, copying and scanning of orders, clocking orders, taking payments, assisting attorneys, assisting Judges, answering phone calls, writing orders, making labels and folders, assisting in Family Court during rules day and any other duties assigned within the Clerk’s office, including cross-training in all areas of Family Court.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare dockets for the upcoming terms of Family Court, including sending out notifications.
- Maintains accuracy of all Family Court records.
- Takes notes during Family court of the final disposition of the cases.
- Clocks and Scans all documents received into the proper case.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of clerical experience that includes providing customer service in person or via the telephone.
- Experience in a public agency or legal environment is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of: Standard business computer applications, including but not limited to typing.
- Modern office practices and procedures, including filing and operating office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers and scanners.
- Proper customer service practices and telephone etiquette.
- Correct English usage, including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Principles and practices of sound business communication, through speech and writing.
- Strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of General Sessions documents.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with judges, attorneys, and court staff.
- Detail-oriented approach to data entry and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of legal principles and court procedures.
- Take legible and detailed notes, while learning the job or a new procedure, to be able to do the job the next time, with little to no assistance.
- Exercise sound judgment within general policy guidelines.
- Speak comfortably in front of a large group of people in a professional, courteous and composed manner.
- Work cooperatively with the public, co-workers, supervisors, personnel, judicial officers and others while under pressure and/or in situations requiring persuasion, tact, and interpersonal skills.

Attends work regularly and on time with a minimum of tardiness and absences and adheres to County policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to higher management with respect to vacation time-off requests.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machines, tools and equipment, such as a computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, or telephone. Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, and crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Requires the ability to talk and/or hear (talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear).
