Wage: $17.00 to $18.50 per hour
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Operates a variety of mowing equipment utilized in maintenance of the park’s grounds, maintenance and repair activities and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by incumbents in this class.
- Ensures equipment is in working order.
- Completes Park improvement projects with other county staff and STS crews
- Clean debris from parks and trails
- Mows Park properties and maintenance of mowing equipment.
- Visually inspects parks for hazards or deficiencies.
- Performs a variety of other duties including routing cleaning of buildings, restrooms and shelters
- Operates mowing equipment.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to Parks and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
- Cleans equipment and keeps in good working order, changes oil in mowers as necessary.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid Class D driver’s license and insurance
Pass background check
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the procedures for routine/preventive maintenance of County equipment
Knowledge of Department safety policies and practices.
Some knowledge of intermediate mechanics
Ability to perform physical labor over extended periods of time.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to equipment operations
Knowledge of the methods, materials and tools uses in the maintenance of equipment
Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Special Requirements
-Regular and timely work attendance
-Ability to work weekends and holidays if needed
-Regular scheduled hours are Monday-Fridays (7:00am-3:30pm)
-20-40 hours per week
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Phone, light equipment, automobile, power tools, hand tools, shop equipment, motorized vehicles and equipment. May operate mowers, tractors, chainsaw.

The employee is constantly exposed to fumes, noise, vibration, heat, humidity, cold, dust, odors, and dirty conditions. The employee is exposed to electrical shock, is required to use safety equipment, and may be exposed to chemicals.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works in an outdoor setting. The noise level can be moderately noisy, especially when mowing and ear protection is required.
