The County of Colusa Department of Behavioral Health Services is excited to invite a Behavioral Health Therapist I/II (Limited Term, through June 30, 2026) to join our passionate team and make a lasting impact on the community we serve. There are two (2) positions available that can be filled at any level depending on the qualifications of the successful applicants. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list to fill other openings without reposting. The first application cutoff review will be on 2/18/2025.

The County of Colusa Department of Behavioral Health is excited to be partnering with the Colusa County Office of Education to serve the students and families of Colusa County through a Student Support Grant!

This position is all about making a meaningful impact on the lives of students and parents in our community. As a Therapist assigned to one of the Colusa County School Districts, you will provide a range of clinical intervention services, including one-on-one counseling with youth, family therapy with parents, educational support to classroom teachers, and presentations on anti-bullying and anti-stigma topics. You will also offer crisis counseling and connect families to other community resources, such as the main Behavioral Health Clinic for more intensive interventions. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to gain experience and learn about the benefits of working with Colusa County, without committing to a long-term position.

Therapist I:

Under the direction of the Behavioral Health or Health and Human Services Director or designee, reports to and receives direction from the Clinical Program Manager or Program Manager and may receive technical and functional supervision from the Therapist III.   

 

Therapist II:

Under the direction of the Behavioral Health or Health and Human Services Director or designee, reports to and receives direction from the Clinical Program Manager or Program Manager.

Behavioral Health Therapist I

OPTION 1:

Experience: None. 

Training:

Students enrolled in a Master’s degree program in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field, as well as non-licensed Ph.D. or PsyD. students who are entering a field practicum, qualify. Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.

 

OPTION 2 (Preferred):

Experience: 
Required practicum experience in a Master’s program.

 

Training:
A Master’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university which provides the educational basis for licensing to provide psychotherapy in the State of California.

Licensing or Certifications: 

Must possess or in the process of earning a master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy or Social Work (must be practicum eligible).


Behavioral Health Therapist II

Experience: 
Two (2) years of post-graduate of increasingly responsible related experience.


Training: 
A Master’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university which provides the educational basis for licensing to provide psychotherapy in the State of California.


Licensing and Certifications: 

Must possess or in the process of earning a master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy or Social Work (must be practicum eligible).

Salary based on a 37.5-hour work week.

Therapist I: $ 4,961-$8,135

Therapist II: $5,477 - $8,981

 

The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.

Salary : $59,532 - $107,772
