The Employment and Human Services Department is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) vacancy for Social Work Supervisor I.

The Social Work Supervisor I plans, assigns, and directs the work of social workers and technical support staff who are engaged in providing social casework services such as complex adult protective services cases, conservatorship, adoptions, care management for frail elders and adults with disabilities, foster home and institutional placements, and children's protective services. They oversee child safety and meet legal mandates, perform complex case consultations, ensure corrective action procedures are developed and implemented, and provide instruction on policies and procedures concerning eligibility for and delivery of public social services.

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process. 

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social welfare, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent social casework experience in a public or private human services agency responsible for providing social services to adult, family and/or children.

Substitution: One (1) year of additional full-time or its equivalent experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required academic major. No substitution is allowed for the Bachelor’s degree.
  1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. 
  2. HireVue Oral Exam: The assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. In the assessment, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies and an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include, but are not limited to: Displaying Ownership and Accountability, Handling and Resolving Conflict, Involving Others (Engaging Teams), Safety Focus, and Valuing Diversity. (Weighted: 100%). 
  3. Departmental Hiring Interview 
The online interview will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to participate in the online interview, as well as computer or mobile device with a camera.    
 
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.

 CONVICTION HISTORY

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
