What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Maintenance Worker position at County of Dare?
Performs manual work performing grounds maintenance at County facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
- Mows, trims, and edges grass on all County grounds; weeds flower and shrub beds; cuts back and prunes trees and shrubs.
- Prepares beds for fertilizer, planting, seeding and mulch; loads and transports plants and materials to the jobsite; plants trees, shrubs and flowers.
- Keeps walks and paths clear and tidy; keeps roadside clean.
- Performs regularly scheduled lawn mower maintenance.
- Cleans and maintains shop area.
- Assists with irrigation repair.
- Performs storm cleanup and snow removal as required.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- General knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools.
- General knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of equipment used in landscaping grounds maintenance.
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment to which assigned.
- Ability to perform labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, and others.
- High school diploma or equivalent or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid driver’s license.
