What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Technician position at County of Dare?
Performs work maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains HVAC and electrical equipment.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains heat pumps, air conditioners, boilers, refrigeration equipment, circulation pumps, air handlers, heating systems, etc.
- Repairs and replaces Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
- Oversees third party maintenance contracts.
- Replaces fan belts and changes air filters.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- Thorough knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and techniques used in the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC and electrical equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of the safety hazards of the work and of the necessary safety precautions.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read diagrams and blueprints.
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, and others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three (1-3) years of experience in related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid driver’s license.
- HVAC license.
