Bi-weekly Salary: Prevention Program Coordinator I: $2,108.17 - $2,537.89 Prevention Program Coordinator II: $2,207.85 - $2,659.07The Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Prevention Program Coordinator I/II. This position is classified as FULL-TIME. This position requires administrative level experience associated with a wide variety of responsible functions without direct supervision except as new or unusual circumstances require.Under general direction from the Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Branch Program Manager or designee performs on-site tasks associated with program coordination and supervision of assigned staff; performs administrative and analytical work related to state and federal funding.

Essential job duties may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks. Coordinates the County Prevention Program and activities.Develops and executes short and long term goals associated with the prevention program.Assures compliance with all applicable state and federal guidelines as they relate to the operation of prevention programs.Administers the program by performing tasks such as research, analysis, report writing, staff scheduling, etc.Represents the program at various local and regional meetings involving matters pertinent to prevention services.Determines the resources necessary to ensure appropriate and effective services.Monitors programs for evaluation purposes and provides administrative support for ongoing quality assurance.Collects, analyzes and maintains program data for the preparation and updating of various program operational reports as necessary for compliance with state, federal and/or departmental guidelines.Plans, organizes and coordinates the work of assigned staff including conducting yearly performance evaluation, providing training on an ongoing basis, approving staff requests for time off and schedule changes, etc.Provides direct services and/or schedule coverage for client services as needed.Works in conjunction with departmental staff in the preparation and presentation of various community workshops regarding prevention services.Participates and assists in the planning, development, and implementation of a school and community based prevention program.Performs additional administrative duties as may be assigned or required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of relevant legislation in prevention programs.Knowledge of current principles, practices, methods and techniques in the field of prevention education.Knowledge of budget and statistical methods and analysis of program effectiveness and efficiency.Knowledge of business computer applications, particularly as relating to statistical analysis, record-keeping and report writing.Knowledge of grant sources, development and acquisition theories, writing techniques and administration.Knowledge of effective public presentations which include both oral and visual aides.Ability to plan, organize and supervise assigned programs and staff.Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations and policies and administer department procedures and regulations.Ability to develop, monitor and coordinate program goals and activities.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, prevention education professionals, clients, community groups and the general public.Ability to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours.Typical Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in an office environment under both quiet and noisy conditions; continuous contact with general public, departmental and County staff, management, individuals and other outside organizations. Travel within Del Norte County and the State of California is required if necessary and job related. The ability to operate a keyboard/typewriter and like equipment is required. The ability to operate a vehicle is required.
