General Summary of Position

The position performs a variety of functions related to highway operations and maintenance including patching pavement, crack filling, removing debris, brushing, liter pick up, operating mowing equipment, routine mechanical maintenance on mowing equipment, traffic control, lawn care, cleaning shop and equipment and other routine labor work. Regular attendance and punctuality along with being prepared to commence work at designated work locations, on the assigned or scheduled days and hours is expected. Responsible for providing truthful and accurate written and verbal communications.

This seasonal position, under the direction of the Highway Commissioner, reports during the Construction Season and dates will vary.

Candidates will have to pass a functional capacity test prior to hire.

• Performs routine road maintenance activities.
• Performs lawn care and other routine landscaping activities using gas powered trimmers, small tractors, and mowing equipment.
• Performs routine shop and / or equipment cleaning activities. Keeping equipment clean including washing and waxing.
• Performs routine maintenance such as greasing, maintaining fluid levels, changing and / or sharpen blades, cleaning mower deck, changing of belts, changing oil and grease and changing of mowing blades on equipment.
