Responsibilities include:
- Installs and repairs small pumps (e.g. 40 HP) motors, valves, piping and plumbing systems
- Performs minor design work and fabricates small structures in repair of piping systems or treatment processes
- Supervises the work of subordinate personnel engaged in equipment operations and crew duties
- Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
- Maintains equipment (e.g. greases and lubricates engines, motors, pumps, etc.) used in operation of treatment plants and sewer and water systems
- Assists in repair and maintenance of heating and refrigeration systems (i.e. gas fired boilers, chillers, natural gas compressors, etc.)
- Operates tools, (e.g. lathes, milling machines, welders, saws, torches, etc.) in maintenance and repair of system.
- Operates basic and complex equipment (e.g. backhoe, flusher, front end loader, light bulldozers, etc.) in the excavation and repair of sewers and watermains
- Builds forms, pours and finishes concrete and performs asphalt repairs
- Project management
- Procurement of materials and services
- Assistance with long term planning of the department support
- Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
- Seven years of field maintenance and mechanical experience coupled with heavy equipment operations and diagnosis experience
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an air brakes endorsement

Salary : $105,000 - $110,000
