THE OPPORTUNITY
Administrative Technicians are used in almost every County Department. They perform a variety of routine to complex responsible paraprofessional, technical, administrative, and secretarial support duties requiring the application of procedural, program, and compliance knowledge in support of a department, division, or program; assumes ongoing, technical responsibilities specific to the area of assignment; coordinates assigned programs, projects, and services with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies; performs research and routine analysis on a wide variety of special projects; and performs related work as required.
The selected candidates will have the opportunity to:
- Perform technical and procedural work in support of an assigned department, division, or program; apply technical procedures, methods, and techniques to support program and management analysis functions and processes; monitor and explain operational and program requirements and processes to various stakeholders.
- Assist in developing and monitoring assigned budgets, including gathering and reviewing financial data to identify and recommending account adjustments and fund transfers, developing narratives and project plans, monitoring labor hours and other expenses, ensuring accurate allocation to accounts,
- Provide account balances and updates to management and staff, process invoices and purchase orders, maintain budget spreadsheets, enter information into the financial software system, and attend budget meetings.
- Research, interpret, and ensure, compliance with laws, codes, rules, and regulations, and County program guidelines, policies, and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Compose, edit, proofread, and submit Board of Supervisors, commission, and committee agendas; staff, financial, budgetary, operational, and other technical and programmatic charts, reports, contracts and agreements; technical documentation; and various correspondence and informational material regarding assigned activities; may compile and process confidential material.
- Serve as a liaison or staff support to meeting and/or committee secretary, including preparing agendas and informational packets, posting required public notices pursuant to the law, local ordinances, and resolutions; set up the room, and taking and transcribing minutes for assigned boards and committees.

Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Equivalent to graduation from high school;
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible journey-level clerical or technical support experience which included responsibility for interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations, researching information and preparing accurate documents and reports, or advanced office support work that included data entry and the processing of forms and records;
OR
Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited educational institution;
Two (2) years of journey-level clerical or technical support experience which included responsibility for interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations, researching information and preparing accurate documents and reports, or advanced office support work that included data entry and the processing of forms and records.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Some positions may require the possession of a valid Driver's License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The Human Resources Department will screen all applications to identify qualified candidates. After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the recruitment process.
A written exam (pass/fail and ranking) will be utilized to determine an applicant's ranking and placement on the eligibility list. The examination has been tentatively scheduled for January 24, 2025. If it is determined that you meet the minimum qualifications and are therefore eligible to participate, you will be notified by email at least one week prior to the examination.
If you have taken this examination within six (6) months prior to the scheduled date of the examination, your score will automatically be transferred to this exam and you are not permitted to take this examination. If you have taken this examination from greater than six (6) months but within twelve (12) months prior to the scheduled date of the examination, you may elect to transfer that examination score or sit for the examination again; you must contact Human Resources prior to the scheduled exam date to request that your previous score be transferred.
A transferred examination score does not guarantee passing the current examination administration. Examination pass points are set in accordance with the EEOC Uniform Employee Selection Guidelines.

The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Administrative Technician. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full time, part time, limited term and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103.1 and 1105.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
