Public Relations Specialist Job Description
The Public Relations Specialist’s responsibilities include managing public relations events, drafting crisis and emergency communications, and disseminating information at the direction of the BOCC via various channels, including social media and press releases.
The Public Relations Specialist has a keen understanding of community engagement and public relations, with a strong ability to handle media relations and organizational communication. The primary role of the Public Relations Specialist is to work directly with the BOCC to manage and enhance Elbert County’s image. Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Manage all organizational communications
- Manage all public relations events
- Draft and disseminate public announcements, press releases, and other media materials at the direction of the BOCC, including emergency announcements
- Manage information dissemination via various channels
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies
- Coordinate with leadership teams on brand management
- Ensure compliance with organizational messaging and branding guidelines
- Manage social media information and website design
- Develop and implement the brand
- Monitor social media platforms, Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram, X, and other forms to keep the BOCC informed of public information pertinent to the County
