SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and construction work on county highways, roads, secondary roads, auxiliary structures, and rights-of-way. Operates a variety of heavy equipment and multi-axle trucks used in the repair, maintenance, and construction of native, gravel, and paved roads as well as the associated structures. This position may be assigned to any work activity at any location in Elbert County at the discretion of the Road and Bridge Super Attendant. Operates all vehicles requiring a Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License satisfactorily, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Employee must have or be willing to obtain Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
· Reports for off-duty work for Public Health, Safety, and Welfare emergency operations.
· Employee to operate a truck and trailer safely and efficiently.
· Employee to operate plow truck safely and efficiently.
· Employee to operate tandem and trailer safely and efficiently.
· Employee to operate skid loader safely and efficiently.
· Employee to operate tree chipper safely and efficiently.
· Safe equipment loading, tie-down, and offloading.
· Basic preventative maintenance of skid loader, tandem, and trailers.
· Basic equipment knowledge and care.
· Employee to maintain safe personal protective equipment.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be highly adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations, meet deadlines and operate tools and equipment to perform job duties.
· Follow all safety rules and regulations of the department and employee handbook.
· Valid Colorado Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
· Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
· This is a safety-sensitive position that is subject to random drug testing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed mostly in an office setting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
